When Marx said "Workers of the world unite" did he specify what political parties or political allegiance these workers must have? Where did Marx say workers have to sit to the "left" or "right" of the French president during the French Revolution to indicate their support for the revolution or the king -- terms invented by the French back in 1789?

We live in the United States in 2023, not France in 1789, you fucking sell-out FOOL and TOOL of the establishment. This is exactly how the ruling elite ALWAYS win, by slicing, dicing and dividing up workers. You disgrace Trotsky, who was a liar and a traitor, so it's not surprising but quite an accomplishment. Well done Connor! Well done. You're just like all the other synthetic left, a product of the FBI-infiltrated left since the 1960s. Keep the COINTELPRO going, Connor. Surely it will lead to real change.

How do you unite with people that are fundamentally opposed to your project???

Hedges has been extremely problematic since his stance on the riots in Greece of several years ago. His position was basically that rioting in Greece was good but rioting in the US for similar reasons was bad. Because, basically, Americans are better than that and shouldn't engage in criminal property destruction. The problem, as it always is with people like Mr. Hedges, is that they are masters of rhetoric to the point where their acolytes will not notice the hypocrisy and contradictions of their heroes even if it smacks them in the face.

I'll have to look that up. But,I'm sure he likes a good property owning exploiter. He's never been a true socialist.

I like to read/listen to Hedges. He sure can turn a phrase. The adage: ~the enemy of your enemy can be your friend~ Resonates with me post reading your op-in on Chris. I agree with much that Chris op-ins on.

Look, I'm not saying that you cannot agree with Chris. Go for it. But, I'm saying that his position on Trump, the January 6th Riots, and forming coalitions with the right-wingers is never going to win. You're going to end up being pushed out of the movement.

There is a common enemy here but it sure as hell ain't Chris. How'ss side are you on exactly Exum????

The common enemy theory only really works if the common enemy exists and that isn't really the case with Right-Wing. They against things not to better the world but because it conflicts with their own self interest.

For example Tulsi Gabbard is against the war in the Ukraine because it works for her personal reasons. Now, ask her if she is against war in Africa? And the answer is no- she spoke highly of recent deployment. Right, so she isn't exactly anti-war just anti-US Ukraine Policy.

Secondly, the idea that we should view an attack on our political system as being the same as Code Pink occupying a hall wall in the senate is just absurd. That isn't even logical. But Hedges makes that claim and then talks about the Government going after the Right Wingers unjustly-totally avoiding the fact that Government did the same thing to BLM and the Right Wing certainly didn't shed any tears for those protestors? Instead many were angry that the Government didn't deploy more force i.e. deadly force. And most of the Force applied by the state actually turned BLM protests into Riots. So, its hard for me to listen to Chris Hedges wax poetically about the horrors of the show trials against the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys when clearly they wanted to get into an altercation with Capitol Police and distrust the political process. this was an inept attempt at changing our government by force and it failed.

Remember the storming of the Bastille. Off with the oligarchs' heads. I'm surprised all those old fart, brain dead politicians in the capitol building at the time didn't die of heart attacks. Don't agree in the proud boys and their philosophy but boy did they put words into action. Kinda like the storming of the Bastille.

Cheers

Chris has been on many a battleground. I, never came close. He has never been an advocate of violence to resolve. He's seen the blood underbelly of war. He's published on his experience in the field. So ya, bloodshed in the streets whether here or Greece or where ever is something he'd never be an advocate of. A true Socialist? What the F&%# is that.

Well, I don't think Chris is really about the means of production being owned by the the producers in worker cooperatives. I've never seem him do a story on places like Mainaleda in Spain:
